Biotic and Abiotic Factors
By TheEcoBoss
Threats to the ecosystem The threats to bluefin tuna are overfishing and illegal fishing. Overfishing is the worse of the two ways that I’ve found. Most people don’t know exactly how many fish are in the ocean right now but I can tell you that they don’t get restocked like these lakes, they have to breed and they don’t come back as fast as they disappear. Illegal fishing is a less common occurrence than overfishing, but it is still dangerous for these fish. Importance of the Bluefin tuna The bluefin tuna is important to its ecosystem because if one of the factors in the ecosystem are removed or lost, it wrecks the entire ecosystem. Every part of an ecosystem is important to another part. If the bluefin tuna is gone, then what eats the bluefin tuna will decrease in population, and what the bluefin tuna eats will increase. That will change the balance the ecosystem already has.
Conservation plan As an overall bluefin tuna are affected by pollution of oceans, but they are being most affected by the overfishing of their species. If we created strict laws and fines for dumping and fishing the tuna and contaminating habitats. This could not only save the bluefin tuna but other species and ecosystems. If we stop the overfishing of the bluefin tuna we can save the species and bring them back to a non-endangered state.
